Google's history of making smart speakers stretches back to 2016, when the original Google Home introduced voice-activated assistance into people's living rooms for the first time. Nearly a decade later, the lineup gets a new member.

The new Google Home Speaker is the first audio device built specifically for the Gemini for Home voice assistant. It's available for pre-order now and hits shelves June 25 for $100.

Your next smart speaker is here

The Google Home Speaker has a rounded, dome-like shape with a fully 3D-knit textile exterior in a soft sage green. It sits on a slim white base ring, with its body bulging outward into a smooth, pebble-like silhouette before narrowing slightly at the top. The only visible button is a microphone toggle that lets you control when the speaker listens to you.

The speaker delivers 360-degree sound with an omni-directional 58mm full-range driver along with three far-field microphones and a 2-stage hardware mute switch. Up to two units can pair with a Google TV Streamer for spatial surround sound in a living room setup. It comes in four colors, including Hazel, Porcelain, and two US-exclusive colors, Jade and Berry.

It supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a Thread 1.3 border router. Hence, it can also work as a smart home hub for Matter. It's compatible with the Google Home app on both iOS and Android. It ships with a 30W USB-C power adapter and a 59.1-inch captive power cable.

The speaker ships with Gemini, who now has 10 new natural-sounding voices, understands logic-based requests like turning off all lights except one, handles multiple commands in a single sentence, lets users correct themselves mid-request, and reasons through multi-step questions.

It also works perfectly with Continued Conversation, which keeps the mic open briefly after a response so follow-ups don't need a fresh “Ok Google,” command. With a Google Home Premium subscription, you can unlock the more advanced Gemini AI features across the speaker and the brand's latest camera lineup.

Google has Gemini-centric cameras too

Google's new Home Speaker isn't the only Gemini-powered device. In October 2025, they launched Gemini on a Home lineup featuring the Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen). It's priced at $100 too, alongside the Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen) at $150 (or $250 for a two-pack). The Nest Doorbell (3rd gen) costs $180.

All three cameras shoot 2K HDR video, which is Google's highest resolution yet, and have already been ranked first in their class for image quality by independent testing from DXOMARK.

Google even partnered with Walmart to bring Gemini for Home to a cheaper line of devices. The two products covered are the onn Indoor Camera Wired and the onn Video Doorbell Wired. The onn line is Walmart's in-house electronics brand.

Both devices can be controlled through the Google Home app and support the same Gemini-powered features, provided the owner has a Google Home Premium subscription. The onn Indoor Camera costs $23 and the onn Video Doorbell costs $50. You'll save $77 and $130 compared with the Nest products.
