How to set up and use Air View and Air Gestures on the Samsung Galaxy S 4

Samsung introduced a slew of new features as part of TouchWiz (based on Android 4.2.2) on the Samsung Galaxy S 4. This guide will discuss Air View and Air Gestures, which are all about using your finger or hand to be more productive. Air View was first seen on the Galaxy Note II, but you needed an S Pen. Now you can hover your finger over emails to read the text without actually opening it, and you can see the pictures in a folder without actually tapping it. You can even use your finger as a magnifying glass in the stock browser.

Air Gestures will let you navigate by waving your hand. Instead of swiping your finger from picture to picture in your gallery, you can wave your hand instead. You can even answer your phone without picking it up. You will find quick on/off toggles for both Air View and Air Gestures in your notification pull down, but you might need to fine tune the settings a little. Just hit the break for our video showing you how to set them up and how to use them.

His first computer was a Radio Shack TRS80 Color that used a cassette tape to save programs, and his first laptop was a Toshiba T1200FB that sported a CGA greyscale screen and two 720kb floppy drives (no hardrive). From the early 90’s through late 2011, he only owned Motorola phones starting with the MircroTAC all the way through to the Droid X. He broke that streak when he bought the Galaxy Nexus. In his free time he enjoys sports, movies, TV, working out, and trying to keep up with the rapid fast world of technology.

I’ve got my SGS4 a few days ago, I activated all those proximity and motions features but none of them seem to be working!
The web scroll doesn’t work, also the preview info, nor the head/device tilt scroll…

I followed along, and my settings are slightly different, but do have all the modes. However, even thought my air view is on and under Motions & Gestures, all three are set to ON, none of them actually work!!! This is very concerning since my phone in only 2 days old!

You are so welcome! I personally love Samsung products. I recently upgraded to samsung 4, now the S5 is coming out! How funny!
just a suggestion, get the otter box to protect it. With my S3 I didn’t get it, and all it took was a light drop off the table and it cracked the glass however, It still worked, and for several months after that! But it didnt look pretty at all! :(
Anyway, the Otter box is the best!
