New Android Market Makes Its Way To The UK 5

Looks like our friends overseas, the Great Brits, will be seeing some new Android Market love before December's end as well. We've been seeing the new Market roll out here in the US on several devices already, such as the Nexus One and the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  Google seems to be wasting no time at all pushing the update  out to the rest of the world.  Unfortunately, UK residents will also have to endure the brutal decrease in the amount of time one can refund an application.  Like us, they too will have 15 min to return an application instead of the previous 24 hrs.

From the Android Developers Website:

With a focus on improving discoverability and merchandising, we’ve introduced a new carousel on the home and category screens. Users can quickly flip through the carousel to view promoted applications and immediately go to the download page for the application they want. Developers have been very active in creating great Widgets and Live Wallpapers. To make it easier for users to find their favorites, we’re introducing two new categories for Widgets and Live Wallpapers. Applications that include Widgets and Wallpapers will be automatically added to those new categories. We’ll also be adding more categories for popular applications and games in the weeks ahead. In addition, the app details page now includes Related content, which makes it easier for users to quickly find apps of similar interest.

Joe was born in New Jersey and spent most of his childhood moving around from state to state. He eventually made his way to Pennsylvania where he met his Portuguese beauty and made her his wife. He now has three great kids and full access to all of the Portuguese food he can eat. Joe's love for mobile technology began when he bought his first Palm Pilot, a Palm M130 and left it on top of his car, driving off, causing it to smash into a thousand pieces. Forced to buy a new device, he quickly discovered that specs were changing so rapidly he was buying a new device every six months just to keep up. Since then, he has constantly felt the need to have the latest and greatest. When the "smartphone" revolution began and integrating cell phones and PDA's was the norm, he quickly jumped to Windows Mobile for several years until the first Android device was launched, the T-Mobile G1. Joe began appreciating all of the free utilities Google provided and sold his soul (his precious data) to Google long before they got into the mobile OS business. So, there was no hesitation at all for him to jump on board and ride the Android train as an early adopter. And boy has it been a blast. Joe now works in the Engineering & Operations dept for a major mobile carrier where he remotely troubleshoots cell sites and loves being an Editor for TalkAndroid.

  6. Got the update on Saturday. My HTC Desire is not impressed. How do you know if an application is worth the money in 15 minutes?

  8. have had the new market on my desire for the last 2 days …….. still waiting for my n1 running cm 6.1.1 to get it though, i personally much prefer the new market :) ….. UK user
