'MARVEL Battle Lines' announced at San Diego Comic Con 3

Although Marvel largely chose to skip over much of the action that makes up San Diego Comic Con, they were not entirely absent. One piece of news that was announced is the impending release of MARVEL Battle Lines by Marvel in conjunction with their development partner for the title, NEXON. MARVEL Battle Lines is a “strategic card battle game” with all of the cards featuring a character – both heroes and villains – from the Marvel universe. The new game will be available on both the Android and iOS platforms before 2018 comes to an end.

MARVEL Battle Lines players will make up their decks of cards using Super Heroes and Super Villains, which they can collect through gameplay or probably through some in-app purchases, although the title itself will be free. In a match, players will select 12 cards from their collection to start with for a given contest. From there, they will play with four cards in hand and will take turns against their opponent playing cards onto a 3×4 grid that serves as the battlefield. In addition to the characteristics each card will have, players can take advantage battle lines and combinations to launch successful attacks. The goal is to use the attacks to bring an opponents health down to zero and win the match.

Marvel says two gaming options will be available including a solo, single-player campaign and a real-time player-vs-player mode. To help spice things up, Marvel writer Alex Irvine has prepared a unique story to the game that will unfold as play moves along.
