New OnePlus 5T in the works for fall release

A new rumor has surfaced claiming OnePlus has a new variant of the OnePlus 5 in the works with a scheduled release date projected to be in November 2017. The OnePlus 5 just launched this summer and the suggested launch for the OnePlus 5T is a mere five months into the lifecycle of the OnePlus 5. Keep in mind though that OnePlus made a similar move with the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T in 2016.

The OnePlus 5 is already a stout contender in the flagship level smartphone market. Solid hardware specs like a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch AMOLED display keep OnePlus in the running with other devices, but at a considerable savings. At least one area that may be a weak point compared to the rest of the market is the fact that the display is only full HD resolution instead of quad HD.

With the hardware already present in the OnePlus 5, one may be wondering what new wrinkle OnePlus may bring to make the OnePlus 5T different and worthy of consumer consideration. Sources suggest OnePlus plans to switch to a 6-inch display for the new device and to incorporate an 18:9 aspect ratio, although this will still essentially be at a regular full HD resolution and not quad HD. An early render of the device also suggests OnePlus is shooting for minimal bezels all the way around and may even be curving the side edges similar to what Samsung does with their devices with Infinity displays. Basically, OnePlus is pretty much already on even footing in hardware and now they are trying to keep pace in the design area.

If OnePlus does in fact release a OnePlus 5T as suggested by this latest rumor, would you be interested?
