Target circular exposes Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-order bonuses

After it becomes official next week, buyers of the Samsung Galaxy S8 are going to have various incentives to pre-order the phone.

Target, one of the largest retailers in the United States, plans on going all-out for buyers who pre-order Samsung's 2017 flagship. A leak of an upcoming advertisement tells us what they'll give anyone who places an order before the release date. Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint customers are all eligible for the pre-order bonuses. T-Mobile customers are not, however, as the carrier isn't present in Target stores or on the retailer's site.

Target's pre-order bonuses for the Galaxy S8 include a free Gear VR with controller and a $100 Target gift card. The virtual reality headset is a $129 value, and so you're essentially getting $229 just for pre-ordering this phone.

Samsung and its partners have done similar things in the past; therefore, seeing Target prepping pre-order bonuses of such a high value isn't that surprising. Last year for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung included a free Gear VR and individual retailers and carriers threw in their own pre-order bonuses. The goal for everyone involved is to give consumers a more appealing package. It worked in 2016 because the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge returned Samsung to selling its high-end phones in large quantities for multiple quarters.

If you're among the first 3,000 people to pre-order the Galaxy S8 from Target using the retailer's REDcard, you'll be bumped up to the front of the line on the priority reserve list.
