Following the lead of other manufacturers that use the Google Play Store to distribute core apps, OnePlus has made the Cyanogen Camera app that is part of CyanogenMod 11S, the special version of the operating system used for the OnePlus One smartphone, available in Google Play. By using the Play Store, manufacturers are able to push out updates more quickly and easily to end users. This eliminates the need for an app to go through a carrier's review process to be included in an OTA update, which tend to be sporadic in their timing.

For now at least, the Cyanogen Camera app is exclusive to OnePlus devices, so don't expect to load it on your phone if you visit the Play Store with some other device. If you just want to check out the Play Store listing or you have a device that can use the Cyanogen Camera or needs to be updated, use one of the Google Play download links below.

  1. My biggest disappointment so far is the ability of the camera app to use the hardware of the device to it’s best potential…

Is there a good, no excellent, camera app available to gain reasonable images from the potential of the OnePlus’ camera hardware… this app sucks…

Here’s a comparison using specified ISO etal settings between my 12.1 MegPix old Canon S100 and the OnePlusA0001…

    Not pretty… What to do?

  2. Seriously!!! Didn’t the article STATE it was only compatible with the OnePlus One!?! But… People still need to report that it isn’t compatible with their device and complain? Stupid internets…

    1. Not compatible with my oneplus one (cm11 m11) either. Strange, it’s already pre installed on Cm11s, so who is supposed to download this?

  3. Not compatible with the HTC One S or Google Nexus 5 either. Also wondering about the permissions. Why does a camera app need to control NFC and some of the other permissions it’s given?

  4. Seriously, this app is not compatible with Samsung Galaxy phones? Wouldnt that rule out nearly 2/3 of your possible users?
