If you're a Dish network customer, you should absolutely be using the Dish Anywhere app. The application allows you to access your home DVR from anywhere with your Android phone or tablet, and even lets you sling live TV to your device and set up recordings. The app has received an update today that brings many new features, including a new image-heavy interface that's much easier to navigate.
Finding content is easier now, as the app gives you program recommendations, allows you to set up playlists, and lets you view your recently watched shows and movies. To assist with content discovery, there's a new Media Page that pulls together your DVR recordings, live TV, and Video on Demand to show you what's currently available to watch. That should cut down on the time it takes you to actually find something to watch and jump right into movies and shows. The new app will also function as a television remote, too. Many devices now offer IR blasters and remote apps already, but if you'd rather just stay within the Dish app, you can do that now.
