T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab in US hacked, can make phone calls

As previously mentioned in our pro-Tab article via the comments, the US versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab have had the phone functionality removed. But, thanks to the genius minds at xda-developers, the T-Mobile version has been hacked to add the phone functionality back in.

We should mention that the hacks aren’t for the faint-hearted, as there’s going to be some pretty technical stuff involved in making the phone aspect work. But, if you’re ready to don your geek hat and dive in pocket-protector-first, then be sure to hit up the source links below and get started for yourself.

What do you think about the hack? Do you want the phone feature on the Galaxy Tab, or do you think it’s better off without? Be sure to let us know in the comments!

I will never purchase a tablet like this unless it will completely replace my Google Nexus One(still one of the best smart phones to date.) Android has it’s limitations and I’m sure I speak for numerous American consumers when I say I’m not wasting hundreds of dollars for a giant screen with limited software!

If people cant use it to do EVERYTHING and we are limited we wont want it. People want one device to handle everything, I already use my Nexus One more often than my computer, so why remove an important must have feature??

Europeans get it, Asians get it!!! I say we boycott The Samsung Tab until they force the stipid money hungry US carriers to accept their product as it was intended to be!

    I agree with Tyler.

But boycotting the company that made the galaxy tab is no way to get what we really want. People in the US are forced to pay for each step up in tech. This is so the rest of the world doesn’t have to. Blame wal-mart. They showed the world that we will put up with a lessor product in exchange for a have it now price.

No one is more obsessed with the next best thing than an american citizen. Which is why they can market us for each and sadly EVERY step along the way. Countries that already have the galaxy tab/phone simply don’t tolerate second best electronics.

So next time you see someone with an $800.00 ipad that cant make a real phone call !SLAP! them. For they are the shepherds who led us down this path.
