Pandora, the popular music streaming service, is rolling out an update to its app and is finally providing optimizations for tablet devices. When held in landscape mode, the app on a tablet device roughly divides the screen into three sections. The center section is the primary focus providing album art and quick links to your play history along with contextual information about tracks. The right hand portion of the screen is devoted to your list of stations, including options to share them or create new one or add some variety. Pandora also includes an option to sort the stations alphabetically or by date created or added. The left hand side of the screen is used for settings, via the action or its own icon on tablet devices.
The overall look has been described as being more consistent with the Holo guidelines, but not the best example we have seen. It appears Pandora has removed the sleep timer function from the app, which may be an issue for some users. It has also been pointed out that some of the screenshots from the Google Play store show the Chromecast button, although it is not clear whether that capability is actually present quite yet. Pandora was one of the services Google mentioned when Chromecast was first launched, so hopefully this is a sign of that finally happening.
