There's a new media streamer on the block in the form of Walmart's Onn Google TV 4K Streaming Box which has appeared on the retailer's website. Rumored to be running Android TV 12, the Google TV 4K Streaming Box is priced at just $19.88 on Walmart's website although it's listed as an ‘in-store' purchase in Sacramento currently.
Reported (here via 9to5Google) to be running Google TV UI on top of Android TV 12, the Onn Streaming Box is powered by an Amlogic S905Y4 processor which brings support for the AV1 codec. There are a couple of gigabytes of RAM and a measly 8GB of built-in storage present, which means that it will be a balancing act as to which of your favorite apps you go without.
Features:
- 4K UHD resolution TV streaming
- Google TV OS – easily setup with your Google account
- Dolby Audio
- Fast WiFi
- Compatible with Google Assistant
- CPU: Quad-core Cortex-A35, GPU: Mali-G31 MP2
- 2 GB RAM with 8 GB Storage
- WiFi: 2.4/5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac MIMO
- Input: AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 250mA max; Output: DC 5V/1A
- What's in the Box? 1 4K Streaming Box, 1 Remote control (requires 2 AAA batteries, included), 1 HDMI cable 3.28 ft (1m), 1 Quick Start Guide
The remote sports a dedicated Paramount+ button which makes sense when you consider that Walmart+ subscriptions include free access to the streaming service.
Despite the meager 8GB of built-in storage, at under $20, the Onn Google TV 4K Streaming Box will almost certainly prove popular as an impulse buy when it goes on open sale.
