CES 2023: MediaTek demos consumer-ready Wi-Fi 7 products and its new Genio 700 IoT chipset for smart home devices

It's already time for CES 2023 and first up we have MediaTek demoing consumer-ready next-gen WiFi 7 Filogic chips and unveiling its new Genio 700 chipset which will be used in IoT devices for smart homes and businesses.

Utilizing record-breaking 320MHz channel bandwidth and 4096-QAM modulation, MediaTek's WiFi-7 solution brings a 50% reduction in power consumption, 25x lower CPU utilization, and 100x lower MLO switch latency when compared to competing options. MediaTek's new 6nm Filogic 880 and 380 chipsets will be used in products ranging from televisions, routers, laptops, tablets, streaming devices, and more. Brands such as AMD, Lenovo, ASUS, TP-Link, and HiSense are already on-board to use the chipset in upcoming devices.

Focused on the IoT segment, MediaTek's new Genio 700 chipset is manufactured using the 6nm process and sports a pair of ARM A78 cores @2.2GHz and six ARM A55 cores running at 2GHz. Aimed at devices for the smart home, business, and retail environments, the Genio 700 chipset supports FHD60+4K60 displays and also packs in an ISP for improved images. Its SDK lets designers customize products using Yocto Linux, Ubuntu, and Android.

Additional features of the MediaTek Genio 700 include:

  • Supports high-speed interfaces, including PCIe 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen1, and MIPI-CSI interface for camera
  • Dual Display support FHD60+4K60 with AV1, VP9, H.265, and H.264 (video decode) support
  • Support for industrial grade design and wide temp with 10 years of longevity
  • ARM SystemReady certification for providing a standard and easy way to integrate the platform
  • ARM PSA certification for increased security
