Both tablets are powered by MediaTek's MT8169A processor which is a hexa-core design which, according to Amazon, is 30% faster than the chip on the old model. The Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Plus are available with 2GB and 3GB RAM respectively, and a choice of 32/64GB of built-in storage which can be expanded via the MicroSD card port. Thanks to the new chip, the tablets are claimed to last 13 hours and can be recharged via the USB-C port, although with the Fire HD 8's 5W charger it can take 5 hours to do so. Wireless charging is supported by the Fire HD 8 Plus which benefits from charging from 0-100% in 3 hours thanks to its 9W charger.

While the Fire HD 8 has front and rear camera sensors capable of 720p recording, the Fire HD 8 Plus has a 5MP rear camera that can capture 1080p footage.

The Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Plus display still has the same HD resolution of 1280 x 800 as their predecessors and launch running on Fire OS 8 which is based on Android 11.

From $99 and $119, the Fire HD 8 or Fire HD 8 Plus tablets are a great way to stream content, read, or play games without breaking the bank. The Fire HD 8 is available in Black, Denim (Blue), and Rose (Pink) colorways while the Plus is only available in Black.
