Get the "Waterproof" Pantech Element Next Week From AT&T for $299 4

The folks over at BGR have received a tip or two suggesting that AT&T will be launching a new tablet next week at CES. The tablet, the Pantech Element, will be the first to rock some AT&T 4G LTE speeds not at a kidney selling price and comes in an 8 inch variety. The tablet will run the latest variation of Honeycomb and will be waterproof. Okay it's not the take your tablet and take pictures with it in the ocean waterproof but more water resistant/splash proof provided you close all the port doors.

Besides the 8-inch display and the water resistance it boasts the following specs:

  • 1.5 GHz dual-core processor
  • Android 3.2 Honeycomb
  • 16GB internal storage
  • 5 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video
  • 2 megapixel front facing camera with 720p video capture
Right now this tablet is slated to go on sale January 8th for $299.99 with a new 2-year agreement. It will be $449.99 off-contract should you just want the tablet. The tablet comes with a little bit of heft and may catch a few CES attendees' eye. Hopefully when we are at CES we are able to get our hands on one and let you know how well it works. What about you readers out there, is this LTE tablet one you would consider buying? Let us know in the comment section below.

  1. I think 8″ is the perfect size? When I first bought my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 I thought the bigger the better. But now I wish I would’ve gotten the 7.7 or 8.9 inch Galaxy Tab? Also I thought I would like how thin the Galaxy Tab is, but the truth is it hurts my hands to hold such a thin tablet. I like Samsung there my favorite but they need to start making there tablets more thicker? I wish they would’ve stuck with the European Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v style? I think that was the perfect tablet, 8mp camera instead of 3.2mp, HDMI slot, USB slot & micro SD card slot & a much better thicker design with a circle Samsung emblem on the back that doubled as a grip for holding. Sometimes being the thinness & lightest tablet isn’t the best? Leave that to apple! Having such a thin tablet comes at a price? Like having less room for important other ports like micro SD or HDMI? Trust me a lot more people would buy the Galaxy Tab 10.1 16GB version for $100 less then the 32GB one if they knew they still had a micro SD card slot to add more storage? And a lot of people didn’t buy even the 32GB one because it had no SD slot! Anyways I like this new 8″ Pantech Element & because it’s only $299 with contract & with 4G LTE I might buy it & sell my Galaxy Tab? Even at full price $449 I could get it & put my grandfathered $30 a month unlimited data plan I have on my Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G in it to get internet when I’m away from a wifi signal? Anyways good job Pantech & AT&T.
