Vivo has officially introduced OriginOS 7 in India, and the update is built on Android 17 with a new AI agent called Jovi at its core. Forty phones are on the rollout schedule, starting with the X300 series at the end of October.
The new Vivo V80 is the first phone to ship with it out of the box. If you've used OriginOS on something like the Vivo X300 Ultra, the foundations will be familiar, but there's a lot more going on underneath.
What's new in OriginOS 7

Vivo has reworked how the system moves. The Origin Smooth Engine works alongside Fluid Motion, which Vivo says adds liquid-style animations across more than 200 scenarios, and Spring Animation, which reacts to the speed and direction of your swipes. A new memory allocation strategy aims to reduce fragmentation, and Vivo says it validated long-term smoothness with a 72-month anti-aging lab test.
The headline feature is Jovi, which Vivo calls an AI agent rather than an assistant. It can find information, read and summarize files, run scheduled tasks and surface results proactively, and it works across a connected phone and PC. Origin Workbench adds multi-window multitasking with cross-app drag-and-drop, though it requires a phone with at least 12GB of RAM.
A batch of smaller AI tools fills out the package. Snap Note turns whiteboards, slides and mind maps into editable documents, while AI Search lets you describe a file instead of remembering its name. Snap & Go pulls travel and event details from screenshots and offers to add them to your calendar.
AI Recorder adds speaker recognition, transcript outlines and summaries, with templates for meetings, lectures and interviews. The Smart Call Assistant can answer calls you can't take and generate an AI Call Overview in your call log.
Why it matters

The cross-device features are the part most likely to matter outside India. Vivo says OriginOS 7 supports Apple Watch, AirPods and iCloud experiences on compatible devices and in supported regions. For anyone living in a split Android and Apple household, that's a genuinely practical addition.
Office Kit also lets a compatible Vivo phone act as a webcam for video calls, alongside task handoff and cross-system file access. Shake & Share handles one-to-many, cross-brand file transfers without using mobile data.
An AI agent that can act on your PC raises obvious questions about control, and Vivo has addressed that directly. Jovi Security shows key actions clearly, requires confirmation for sensitive ones and flags high-risk operations. Security Shield adds protection against malicious apps, unsafe links, spam calls and insecure Wi-Fi.
Key details
Personalization gets plenty of attention too. Dynamic Glow adds lighting effects that follow your touch, while Dynamic Translucent Material offers Realistic, Natural and Soft interface styles. Wiggle Theme, Pet Pals Theme and Glint Theme add motion and shimmer to wallpapers, and StickIt brings system-wide stickers.
Here's Vivo's rollout schedule for India, which excludes carrier-exclusive models:

Takeaway
Based on what's confirmed so far, OriginOS 7 is Vivo's most ambitious software update yet, pairing Android 17 with an AI agent that reaches beyond the phone. X300 owners get it first, and the long tail of support through February 2027 is welcome news for anyone on older V and T-series models. If you're on a budget phone with less than 12GB of RAM, expect to miss out on Origin Workbench.
We're still waiting on details for markets outside India, and it'll be worth seeing how Jovi handles real tasks once the update lands. If it works as described, Vivo's software story just got a lot more interesting.
