Marian Keyes' Hit Novel Heads to Netflix
Since 1995, Marian Keyes has sold more than 35 million books worldwide. Three of her biggest successes have already made it to TV, but this deal marks her first-ever collaboration with Netflix. The streaming platform has secured the adaptation rights to her 2020 novel Grown Ups, a major score as Netflix continues to bet on page-turners to create binge-worthy series.
Harlan Coben may still dominate Netflix's roster of literary adaptations, but Keyes is officially joining the club with Grown Ups.
Bringing Grown Ups to the Screen
Sam Strauss, known for the series Apple Cider Vinegar, has been tapped to write the show. Strauss told Netflix, “I know I'm not the only one obsessed with every word Marian Keyes writes. It's truly an honor to have her trust as I bring the Casey family and the world of Grown Ups to life for Netflix.”
Keyes made sure that filming took place in Ireland—the setting that inspired her novel—enhancing the show's authenticity.

Grown Ups centers on the Casey family in Dublin. This quirky, sometimes dysfunctional group has always found a way to lean on each other. Their close bonds are put to the test after the death of one of the sons, forcing the family to confront grief, the pain of absence, and mounting challenges.
