Netflix has doubled down on turning popular novels into must-see TV, landing the rights to an anticipated new adaptation from beloved Irish author Marian Keyes. For the first time in her remarkable career, Keyes is working with Netflix, sparking excitement among fans eager for a gripping new drama.

Marian Keyes' Hit Novel Heads to Netflix

Since 1995, Marian Keyes has sold more than 35 million books worldwide. Three of her biggest successes have already made it to TV, but this deal marks her first-ever collaboration with Netflix. The streaming platform has secured the adaptation rights to her 2020 novel Grown Ups, a major score as Netflix continues to bet on page-turners to create binge-worthy series.

Harlan Coben may still dominate Netflix's roster of literary adaptations, but Keyes is officially joining the club with Grown Ups.

Bringing Grown Ups to the Screen

Sam Strauss, known for the series Apple Cider Vinegar, has been tapped to write the show. Strauss told Netflix, “I know I'm not the only one obsessed with every word Marian Keyes writes. It's truly an honor to have her trust as I bring the Casey family and the world of Grown Ups to life for Netflix.”

Keyes made sure that filming took place in Ireland—the setting that inspired her novel—enhancing the show's authenticity.

The Story: Love, Loss, and Family Secrets

Grown Ups centers on the Casey family in Dublin. This quirky, sometimes dysfunctional group has always found a way to lean on each other. Their close bonds are put to the test after the death of one of the sons, forcing the family to confront grief, the pain of absence, and mounting challenges. The series explores how they manage loss and whether their love can keep them together through it all.

The Cast Is Set

Netflix has revealed the cast for the upcoming show. Leading roles go to Sarah Greene (Bad Sisters, Normal People), Robert Sheehan (The Umbrella Academy), and Amy-Leigh Hickman (You), promising performances that should resonate with viewers eager for compelling drama.

No Release Date Yet

The announcement has plenty of fans eager to watch Grown Ups soon. As of September 2026, Netflix has confirmed the deal and the main cast, but no release date has been announced. Viewers will need to wait a little longer before pressing play on a series that many are already comparing to This Is Us.
