An 8000mAh battery in a phone that is 8.88mm thick and weighs 224g. That is the engineering headline with the Realme 16T, and it is a legitimately impressive feat of packaging. The device launched today in India as the successor to the 15T, leaning hard into endurance and durability as its core pitch.

Three Days of Battery Life Is the Whole Argument

The 8000mAh Titan Battery is, per Realme, the largest cell it has ever put inside a numbered device. Company lab data puts real-world usage at around three days on a single charge under heavy use, which would put it in genuinely rare company at this price.

Charging tops out at 45W wired, getting you to 50% in 48 minutes. A five-minute emergency top-up delivers 7% according to Realme, and the phone also supports reverse wired charging, so you can use it to top up earbuds or another phone.

Built Like It Costs More Than It Does

The durability story is one of the more compelling angles here. The 16T carries both IP68 and IP69 Pro ratings, the latter covering protection against high-pressure water jets at temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius, well beyond what standard submersion ratings cover.

It also passes MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock resistance testing and is backed by an ArmorShell 4-layer drop-protection structure featuring reinforced corners, an internal airbag cushioning design, and a metallic mid-frame.

Display and Chipset

The panel is a 6.8-inch IPS LCD running at up to 144Hz, peaking at 1200 nits in High Brightness Mode. DC dimming is onboard for nighttime use, which is a thoughtful inclusion at this price tier.

Processing comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6nm chip paired with a 5300mm² vapor chamber cooling system. The aim is stable 60fps gaming without throttling, though how that holds up under sustained load remains to be seen.

Cameras: One Good Sensor, a Lot of Software Work

The main camera pairs a 50MP Sony IMX852 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture alongside a 2MP monochrome sensor. Up front, there is a 16MP Sony IMX480, and a rear-mounted mirror lets you frame selfies using the primary camera, a quirk first seen on the standard Realme 16.

Much of the camera pitch is AI-driven. Features include AI Portrait Glow for backlit and low-light situations, AI Popout Collage for layered compositions, and AI Instant Clip for automated short-form video edits. The underlying hardware is solid enough; whether the software consistently delivers is another matter.

Software

The 16T ships with Android 16 and realme UI 7.0 out of the box. The company is promising six years of software fluency and a separate seven-year battery health guarantee, with the cell rated to hold above 80% capacity at that point. Those are bold commitments, and it will be worth tracking how seriously they are honored.

Pricing and Availability

The first sale runs from May 27 through June 2 on Flipkart and Realme.com, with discounted launch pricing as follows (USD figures are approximate conversions at current rates, for reference):

  • 6GB + 128GB: Rs. 29,999 (~$315) — Rs. 26,999 (~$280) first sale price
  • 8GB + 128GB: Rs. 31,999 (~$335) — Rs. 28,999 (~$305) first sale price
  • 8GB + 256GB: Rs. 34,999 (~$365) — Rs. 31,999 (~$335) first sale price

It comes in Aurora Green, Starlight Black, and Starlight Red, with the red finish exclusive to India. At that entry point, the combination of an 8000mAh battery and dual IP rating is genuinely hard to dismiss. The Dimensity 6300 is not going to win any benchmark contests, but if endurance and toughness are what you are buying for, the 16T makes a strong case for itself.
