When Sleepless Ambition Meets Rural Perfectionism
Imagine a home shopping network host who can’t seem to catch a good night’s sleep, chasing a business deal that could send her career soaring, only to find herself in a tiny Korean village. But success isn’t simple. She keeps bumping into a secretive local farmer obsessed with doing everything just right. The two opposites cross paths at all hours—blame those unpredictable sleep schedules—watching their initial friction transform into something more complicated and dreamy. With hidden agendas everywhere, their budding romance is anything but straightforward.
The 12-episode series, Sold Out on You, directed by Ahn Jong-yeon (of Seoul Busters), stars Ahn Hyo-seop, familiar to audiences as the voice of Jinu in KPop Demon Hunters, alongside Chae Won-been.
Meet Dam Ye-jin: Queen of Sales Puts It All on the Line
Dam Ye-jin (played by Chae Won-been) is a rising force at HIT Homeshopping. Her on-air charisma regularly wipes out inventory, sometimes at the expense of her own well-being. Backed by a career milestone of 1 trillion won in sales (that’s approximately $750 million), she’s within reach of a significant promotion to headline a prime weekend broadcast slot. There’s just one obstacle: to land the weekend show, she has to persuade a raw cosmetic materials company owner to renew their contract with HIT. Securing this deal would grant the network exclusive rights to a wildly popular skincare product.
All Eyes on Deokpung Village—And One Particular Mushroom
Determined to clinch the deal, Ye-jin heads to Deokpung Village, the only place in Korea where the white-flowered uri mushroom—the secret behind the viral face cream—is grown. While tracking down the mysterious company owner, she collides with Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo-seop), the diligent farmer overseeing the mushrooms. Ye-jin admires his meticulous methods, but Matthew’s not thrilled by her unannounced visits and starts making things difficult for her. However, when he realizes Ye-jin might be the only one who matches his relentless drive, his frustration slowly turns to admiration—then something more.
When Tension Turns Romantic
As their motivations cross and secrets hover in the air, Ye-jin and Matthew’s initial tension gives way to a romance that is both dreamy and tangled. Will Ye-jin secure the contract to achieve her dream promotion? And will Matthew let down his guard for a TV host as driven (and sleepless) as he is? One thing is clear: Deokpung Village, and the partnership at its heart, have a lot more to offer than what’s on the surface.
