Every Realme series, for years, has positioned the Pro model mainly to make the Pro+ look better. The Pro was never bad, but it was always missing something important. The best camera stayed exclusive to the Pro+.
This time around, the Realme 16 series is going to be equipped with the same 200MP LumaColor main camera found on the Pro+, including optical image stabilization, lossless digital zoom options, and advanced color processing.
Realme 16 Pro ushers in 200MP camera
Realme’s number series always present the Pro+ models as the closest thing to a flagship in the midrange collection. However, what separates the brand from many others is that most of its phones never feel neglected or subpar.

Even when a phone isn’t the flagship of the lineup, they consistently inject a specific idea or feature that gives each generation its own identity. A good example is the Realme 13 series, where they broke away from safe design trends and introduced temperature- and color-changing backs.
The most noticeable changes on the Realme 16 series this year is the addition of the Samsung HP5 sensor, which is a 200-megapixel image sensor.
By name, it's large enough to capture more visual information than a typical 48MP or 64MP sensor. It supports Super OIS where the camera compensates by moving the sensor in the opposite direction of your natural shake.
The camera also supports full-pixel auto zoom that achieves lossless zoom at 1×, 2×, and 4× without switching lenses. At 2× zoom, the phone is still using roughly 50MP worth of real image data, but at 4×, it still has enough native pixels to produce a sharp image comparable to a standard main camera.

LumaColor is Realme’s color science layer that analyzes skin tones separately from the scene to adjust brightness, contrast, and color temperature so faces don’t look washed out against environments.
Realme 16 Pro set for January 6 release
Besides an impeccable camera system, the Realme 16 Pro is coming with a 7000mAh battery with 80W charging, a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and the Dimensity 7300-Max. Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16 has been preinstalled with system-level optimizations and Gemini integrations added to the brand's latest AI features.
The phone will make appearances in Master Gold, Pebble Grey, and Orchid Purple colors. Master Gold is the signature color, inspired by the soft radiance and texture of wheat fields, while Pebble Grey offers a calm, understated look influenced by smooth river stones. Orchid Purple is a more personality-driven option.

Realme 16 Pro is also IP69 rated and fully protected against dust, and high-pressure and high-temperature water exposure. The phone is scheduled to officially launch on January 6, 2026.
Realme will host the launch event and unveil the phone alongside the realme 16 Pro+, after which both devices should become available for purchase through the official online store, major retailers, and marketplaces in various regions.
Regional rollouts in India, Europe, Africa and others may happen in the days or weeks after the January 6 launch, depending on distribution and stock timelines in each market. There's no word on pricing yet.
