Your phone needs rest as much as you do, especially after watching you press and scroll through countless days. IKEA seems to agree, and it’s taking the idea literally with its new Phone Sleep Collection.

The brand has built a tiny bed for your smartphone, complete with sheets, a pillow, and a Near-Field Communication chip tucked inside the frame. Place your phone on the mini bed and leave it there for seven uninterrupted hours.

The dedicated IKEA app tracks your phone’s rest time with yours. There's even a reward for you if you keep it up long enough.

Rest beside your phone every night

If you manage to leave your phone in its own bed for seven hours everyday, and for one week straight, IKEA will reward you with a voucher worth $27. It’s part of a UAE-exclusive promotion encouraging customers to improve their sleep habits. The bed itself is free when you spend 750 AED (≈ $200) on items from the Complete Sleep Collection.

It was spotted in a 41-second clip teased by IKEA UAE’s YouTube channel. The miniature furniture is something straight out of a dream, yet designed exactly like a real bed. It has a Scandinavian aesthetic and fits neatly on any bedside table. You'll get a soft, folded duvet to keep your device warm, and a pillow where it can lay its head.

The NFC chip should be underneath these layers. NFC is the same short-range wireless technology used in contactless payments or digital keycards. It activates only when another NFC-enabled device comes within a few centimeters.

You can't dodge sleep anymore

Placing your phone in IKEA’s bed triggers a timestamp that effectively tells the app that rest is happening. If you pick it up, even slightly, the NFC link breaks immediately and you'll disturb the session. That means you can’t cheat by pretending to sleep.

The bed is a great concept that should help your circadian rhythm. It's been preached for years now how Smartphones emit blue light, which suppresses melatonin, the hormone that signals your brain to sleep. Those late-night doomscrolling spent on TikTok and other social media apps overstimulate your visual and reward systems, delaying deep sleep.

Plus, it's a cute accessory to add to your home decor. Most wellness gadgets scream for attention with glowing LEDs or shapes that feel out of place in a minimalist’s space. I was worried that heat would be a problem. Leaving a phone tucked under a tiny duvet for seven hours might just slowly cook it by morning. After all, even gentle trickle charging generates warmth, and covering a phone is usually a bad idea. It seems IKEA has thought that through.

It looks like they used some sort of lightweight birch composite or coated medium-density fiberboard (MDF) for the frame. It's a common choice for the brand. You may have seen these materials on small home accessories in the physical stores.

The inner layer housing the tag is likely non-conductive polymer or laminated wood to prevent electromagnetic interference. NFC signals are pretty easily disrupted by metals, so they would have avoided metallic screws or foil beneath the chip’s resting surface. The base is probably assembled with wood glue joints or plastic snaps.
