I know. A power bank is a power bank is a power bank, the only thing that changes is the capacity and shape, right? Wrong. These days, the humble power bank design has evolved, and you'll find mini-displays to give convenient information on charging status. And, as you'll discover with Anker's Nano Power Bank, a retractable USB-C cable, which means you no longer need to remember to pack a separate power cord.
Anker is a household name in charging accessories, and we got the chance to review Anker's cutesy Nano Power Bank.
Spoiler: It's a game-changer and everyone should get one!
Design

Well, it's compact. Small enough to fit in your front trouser pocket or handbag without making it feel like you are toting a brick around. Its rounded edges make it easy to slip in and out, while its sides offer a good amount of grip thanks to the gritty-textured sections.
There's also a useful lanyard attached to the top right corner, which you can use to tie the power bank to something like a carabiner on your backpack.

On top, you'll find a USB-A and Type-C port, while the retractable USB-C cable resides on the left-hand side of the power bank. This retractable cord is 2.3 ft long, which means you'll be able to sit the Nano Power Bank on your lap or table area while it's connected to the phone in your hand.

The display is situated on the front of the device, although unless it's activated, you wouldn't know it was there.

Display

You might not be able to watch Netflix on it, but the diminutive screen on the Nano Power Bank offers a neat way to see how the device is performing. Press the button on the right edge once, and you'll be shown just how much charge is left in the Nano Power Bank. Press it twice to display the current battery health status. A third time in succession will bring up the battery temperature, allowing you to see how hard the device is being pushed.

When charging a device or recharging the Nano Power Bank, the display indicates which port is being used, as well as the current input or output level. It's useful when you can't figure out why your phone isn't charging as quickly as anticipated.
It's not the brightest display around, but it's more than bright enough for an occasional glance to see the status of the charging process.
Charging Speed
When recharging, Anker recommends using a 30W PD charger (or higher). The USB-C port and cable are both compatible with Samsung's Fast Charging 2.0 protocol, while the USB-A port outputs 10W of power.
Performance

It's small, handy, and unobtrusive, just waiting to be put to use. I've carried it around with me for a couple of weeks now, in the front pocket of my trousers, the side pocket of my cargo pants, and the small front pocket of my backpack, and found it easy to grab. It's one of those devices that consistently does its job with zero effort or forethought on your part.
Did you forget your charging cable on your trip? No problem, pull out the retractable USB-C cord to charge your phone or tablet.
Conclusion

Instead of wondering if I need to take the 25,000mAh power bank in my backpack on a trip, Anker's 10,000mAh Nano Power Bank is the easy choice. Boasting a useful display, the game-changing retractable USB-C cable, and a handy 10,000mAh capacity, which is enough to charge your Galaxy S25 Ultra twice over, Anker's Nano Power Bank has all that's needed to get you through a busy day. If you need more power, you'll be interested in its chunkier, higher-capacity sibling which I reviewed here.
And, priced at just £49.99 on Amazon and Anker's Store, it won't break the bank either.
