For Android lovers in the world, Samsung brings one of the first major releases every year, and arguably, with what is the best-known Android flagship series. This year, we're expecting to see the Galaxy S25 series show up, but all we were waiting for was to here the South Korean OEM confirm things.
Now, it is finally confirmed, and Samsung has given us a date for the year's first Samsung Unpacked event. It'll be in about two weeks, on January 22nd, but that's not all that Samsung wants us to know. They say that the event will bring the “next evolution of Galaxy AI”, and you'll also be able to get some sweet perks by reserving the device early.
The First Samsung Unpacked of 2025 Is on January 22nd in San Jose
If you've been hungrily waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series to release, then you'll fortunately not need to wait that much longer. Samsung has just confirmed on multiple channels that Samsung Unpacked is going to be on January 22nd, which is just two weeks away. The event will take place in San Jose, CA, but of course, we'll be able to watch it online.
If you live in the US, you can expect to catch the live stream at 1 PM EST, or you can just extrapolate from 6 PM GMT to figure out what time you should tune in, regardless of the timezone that you might live in. You can expect us to be there.
Is Samsung Teasing a Fourth Model?
From the graphic that Samsung released to announce the event, we can see the corners of four devices placed together to form a rough star shape. While that might simply be because that star is reminiscent of the stars the OEM uses for Galaxy AI (which will definitely be a big part of the event), if we were to take it at face value, it might be indicating that there's a fourth model expected, as opposed to the usual three.
If you've been keeping your ear to the ground, you'll know that the fourth phone is most likely to be the heavily rumored Galaxy S25 Slim. That phone is expected to keep the flagship specs for the most part but come in a build that's less than 7mm thick.
Expect Some Major Upgrades to Come the Way of Galaxy AI
I don't think anyone would be surprised to learn that Galaxy AI is going to play a big part at Samsung Unpacked in a fortnight. We saw what the Google Pixel 9 launch looked like, and it was almost 100% about the software. While I don't think Samsung will go to that extent, we expect a lot of AI talk.
In fact, Samsung has referred to what it is going to exhibit as the “next evolution of Galaxy AI” and “the next big leap in mobile AI experiences”. It sounds like marketing babble but they definitely have something in store, so I hope we don't end up disappointed.
