Horse racing was the start of sports betting as a whole and is the reason why we are all able to bet on our favourite sports today. Centuries later, horse racing (and sports betting) is as big as ever before, but why?

We believe that one of the biggest reasons is due to the fact that there are so many ways you can bet now. Around a decade ago, betting on horses was only really accessible through bookmaker shops or attending the races. However, now we have these options, plus online betting options which have opened the world of horse racing for players at any time.

Mobile Betting Apps and Their Pros

This leads us to our first point here. The ease of online betting makes every single betting type easier, but horse racing betting benefits the most. With horse races being so quick and happening at sporadic times, having a huge range of options from the comfort of your own home and at the click of a button is a massive positive for horse racing fans.

Horse racing is not the only example of betting types that have massively benefited from the ease of online betting. It has spanned across sports betting and even casino betting, with ease being the biggest contributor to the significant growth we are witnessing.

As well as the ease, the ability to bet on races on the other side of the world adds another huge positive to horse racing, as usually betting on major events like The Kentucky Derby would be a challenge for most UK bettors. It also means that you can bet on the horse races you want to at times when getting to a bookmaker would be difficult.

As you can tell, all of these points centre around ease, as this is the biggest contributor to mobile betting apps being as efficient as they are. However, mobile betting apps do come with some negatives that the other two options have.

Going To The Bookmakers

One of the biggest things missing from mobile betting apps is the community that comes from going to a betting shop every time you place a bet. Visiting a shop to place a bet and talking to fellow bettors about their choices can be quite engaging.

Not only could this result in you changing your mind and winning alongside a fellow player, but it could also foster some friendly competition. Betting with other people is the one thing that online betting apps lack while bookmakers excel in this area.

Going To The Races

However, if there is one place that does the social aspect of betting better than the bookmakers, it is the races. Everyone present is there for a good time with friends, and there are winnings to be had. The cheers when a favourite horse wins and everyone has won money are unlike most other sports, and attending the races is a key part of horse racing you shouldn't miss out on.

There are some negatives to attending horse races, like the lack of racing variety, but if you are attending the races, you know you are primarily there to bet on a couple of races.

Which Is The Best For Horse Racing?

We will keep this part short and sweet: we believe the best place to bet on horses is through online betting apps. The ease of being able to do it from your own home and at any time adds a convenience that horse races and bookmakers cannot replicate.
