At this rate, artificial intelligence will come to your phone whether you like it or not. It has become a core feature of many mid- to high-range smartphones and is difficult to avoid. Qualcomm and other companies continue to push AI capabilities into more affordable devices, and they've just launched the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.

Their latest chip brings a 20% jump in CPU speed, a 40% faster GPU, and better power efficiency. Even better, your phone can handle smarter features without relying on the cloud. Xiaomi is set to be the first to roll out a device with the new chip. Expect their announcement next month.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 takes mobile tech to the next level

On-device AI processing is something many users want. But it's been hard to accomplish because of hardware limitations. Phones simply aren't strong enough to handle all that data without the cloud. Luckily, Qualcomm has come many steps closer to that end with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor

With 30% better AI performance, your phone can handle voice recognition, photo enhancements, and personalized recommendations much faster and privately. When you ask your phone to identify a song or suggest the best route home, the AI can process these requests without needing to connect to an external server.

There's a 12% boost in power efficiency, which is just as important. With so many advanced features running in the background you need all the power you can get. In terms of specifications, the chip uses a 4-nanometer process technology, USB 3.1 and USB Type-C support, as well as UFS 3.1 storage.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will bring the best of the 7-series to more mid-tier devices by selecting top 7-series features including on-device AI support. This platform is another proof point in our commitment to deliver the best-in-class mobile experiences to consumers at every price.

Setting a new standard for mid-range smartphones

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 introduces numerous AI features, and Qualcomm has shared an image preview. On-device generative AI is no exception, which means your device can host advanced models that create fresh content, from images to texts. For example, large language models (LLMs) like Baichuan-7B and Llama 2 with 1 billion parameters. The processor also supports multi-language translation in real time.

In the camera department, you should see features like the triple Image Signal Processor (ISP). Each ISP handles different tasks. They'll process colors, details, and lighting to deliver clarity, noise reduction, and more when you shoot videos. AI Remosaic should improve image quality when it analyzes and refines the raw data from any image you capture.

The processor also comes with noise cancellation and reduction, powered by the Qualcomm Sensing Hub. This technology makes your calls and voice recordings clearer, cutting out background noise. More importantly, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is shaping up to be a key player in the mid-range smartphone market. Realme, Samsung, Sharp, and Xiaomi have partnered with Qualcomm to use it on upcoming phones, with Xiaomi being the first among them again.
