The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra Is Official With A 6.78″ Screen

If you've used an Asus Zenfone smartphone in the last few years, you were probably pleasantly surprised. Asus is better known for their computer hardware and the ROG Phone lineup gets all of the spotlight when it comes to their smartphones. However, the Asus Zenfone 9 and 10, in particular, were fantastic, compact devices.

Today, the Zenfone 11 Ultra joins the family tree, bringing an “Ultra” model to the lineup for the first time. The device comes with a display bigger than 6 inches for the first time in a while, and many more super-sized features. Let's talk about the newly announced device.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra Brings “Big” Back To Zenfones

The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra had its global launch today, moving away from the compact DNA of the previous Zenfones and aligning more with the big screens that are more popular these days. Whether there'll still be a regular Zenfone 11 is uncertain, but for now, let's bask in this big phone.

The Design

The Zenfone 11 Ultra has a pretty straightforward design. It has a massive display on the front with skinny bezels all around and a small cutout for the selfie camera up top. Regardless of the color you go for, you get a matte black aluminum frame with the power button and volume rocker on the right side. The back panel is made of mostly matte-finished glass, with some glossy lines that form an “A” when the phone is held in landscape mode.

The upper left corner of the back panel houses a camera module with three lenses and a flash. Looking at this, you might realize that the phone shares a lot of design similarities with the Asus ROG Phone 8, and that's because it is essentially a revised version of the phone for regular folks and not gamers.

You get many ROG Phone 8 perks, like a headphone jack on the bottom of the device, along with the USB-C port, SIM tray, and loudspeaker. The device is IP68-certified too.

The Software

The Zenfone 11 Ultra runs on Android 14. They don't have a skin of their own, though they make a few tiny tweaks to the UI in places, so you're getting a pure Android experience. You will get at least two years of OS updates and four years of security updates.

We live in an AI world, so you shouldn't be shocked to hear that the Zenfone 11 Ultra comes with some AI features like AI Noise Cancellation, AI Call Translator, AI Transcript (for call recordings), and AI Wallpaper. These are pretty self-explanatory.

The Screen

The display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED module with FHD+ resolution and 2,500 nits of peak brightness. It is an LTPO panel, so it can set its refresh rate anywhere between 1 and 120Hz, pushing up to 144Hz (though only when gaming).

The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 at all times. Plus, it has over 100% coverage on the DCI-P3, NTSC, and sRGB color gamuts, so it's very color-accurate.

The Internal Hardware

Now, inside the phone, you get the kind of hardware you'd expect from the ROG Phone 8. A Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is paired with either 12GB/256GB or 16GB/512GB, with UFS 4.0 storage either way. The battery is a 5,500 mAh cell with 65W wired and 15W wireless charging support. You also get an optical fingerprint reader under the screen.

In the camera department, you get three lenses on the back (the past few Zenfones only had two). The main camera is a 50MP sensor with OIS, the telephoto is 32MP with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and the last one is a 13MP ultrawide with a 120° FOV. Using the primary lens, you'll be able to record at up to 8K/24 or 4K/60. The selfie camera is 32MP.

The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra costs $899.99 in the United States and is available in four colors: Eternal Black, Misty Grey, Skyline Blue, and Desert Sand.
