Having launched a number of audio products before unveiling the Phone 1 in 2022, Nothing's progress from a start-up to a smartphone brand is impressive. One issue that many had with the Phone 1 was that it was never officially on sale in the US and was only available in a limited beta program. This time around, Nothing is saying that the Phone 2 will indeed be release in the US, and that it will launch the handset sometime during Summer 2023.
Looking at the teaser video above, it would appear that the Glyph design on the rear panel is present on the Phone 2 but possibly with multi-colored lighting instead of just white LEDs. It would also seem that the Phone 2 will be available in at least a white colorway.
While details on what specifications we can expect to see with the Phone 2 are scarce, we do know that it will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which represents a neat bump in performance over the Phone 1's Snapdragon 782G processor. Why is Nothing using the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip instead of the SD8Gen2? The SD8+Gen1 is cheaper than its newer sibling while still offering a big performance bump over the SD782G.
Summer isn't too far away which means that we can expect more interesting factoids to be released by Nothing over the coming months. It's a frustrating marketing strategy but who can argue with Nothing when it appears to be successful?
Anyway, are you excited that the Phone 2 will launch in the US later this year? Let us know in the comments below.
