By now we are accustomed to Samsung being the leading Android brand in issuing software updates and security patches to its flagship phones, and now its new sub-$300 Galaxy A24 is getting in on the action. The MediaTek Helio G99-powered budget smartphone will get four years' worth of Android OS upgrades and security patches for five years. All for a phone costing less than $300. Wow.
Besides being powered by the Helio G99 processor, the Galaxy A24 comes with 6/8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which you can augment by up to 1TB via the included MicroSD slot. Its 6.5-inch AMOLED display has an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. There's a trio of rear cameras consisting of a 50MP main sensor which is accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro lens. The 13MP selfie camera is housed in a teardrop notch on the display.
Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W ‘fast' charging which can achieve a 50% charge in 30 minutes. Samsung has also thrown in dual-SIM connectivity, and the phone will run Android 13 (One UI 5.1) out of the box. The Galaxy A24 will be available in Lime Green and Vampire Black colorways.
For the moment, Samsung is tight-lipped on when the Galaxy A24 will launch in other markets other than Vietnam but we'll update the post when more information is announced.
