Known for producing high-quality home projectors that run on Android TV, Xgimi has unveiled its brand new Mogo 2 and Mogo 2 Pro portable projectors that feature 720p and 1080p resolutions respectively as well as improved automatic keystone correction technology.
The new series offers improvements in screen brightness, clarity, speaker performance, and the upgraded auto-keystone correction technology called Smart ISA 2.0 (Mogo 2 Pro only). Smart ISA 2.0 will allow for a much easier setting up of the projector image on the screen or wall.
Sporting Xgimi's self-developed light engine which uses high-transmission coated lenses to reduce light loss in the projection light path, a brightness output of up to 400 ISO lumens is achieved.
Color performance is also improved with a gamut coverage of up to 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut standard range. What does that mean? Well, it means that Mogo 2 series will deliver more abundant color details with more vividity and a more natural appearance. The D65 color temperature standard used by the Mogo 2 series is also widely used in the movie industry, restoring color details that films and shows should have in order for the viewer to experience a more realistic visual.
Speakers have been boosted to a pair of 8W units with double-sided sound outputs that help to create a wider and more immersive audio experience whilst reducing high-frequency loss.
Both models are rated for 25,000 hours at 400-lumen brightness which works out to 2.85 years of non-stop usage, so you should be good for a few years. Perhaps most importantly, you can project images up to 200 inches in size which means that everyone can see exactly what is happening.
In terms of hardware, the Mogo 2 series has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage (expandable via USB port), weighing in at just 1.1kg. There's an HDMI port, USB-A port, Aux input, and a USB-C port which means the projectors can be powered by a battery bank. Chromecast functionality is also included, as is a remote control.
With the presence of the HDMI port, you can add in a Fire Stick so you can bypass the Android TV apps on the projector. This makes perfect sense when you consider the Xgimi projectors don't come with Netflix certification.
The Mogo 2 series is priced at $399-$599 with pre-orders going live on Xgimi's web store from April 25 – May 5 along with a $50 early-bird discount.
