In the past five months we've seen smartphone brands update their handsets to Android 13 as well as launch new models running this latest version of Android out of the box. While the likes of Samsung are leading the charge when it comes to issuing OS updates, there are other brands such as Motorola that are on the other end of the spectrum. As such, it may surprise you that, according to the latest Android Distribution figures from Google, just 5.2% of all Android devices are running Android 13.
The last time Google updated the distribution charts back in August 2022, Android 12 was running on 13.3% of all devices, this was before the official Android 13 launch. Fast forward to the present day, and Android 12 (12 & 12L combined) accounts for 18.9% with Android 11 being the most popular with 48.5%.
Older Android versions such as Oreo have slipped below the 10% mark and Jelly Bean has slipped off the charts entirely.
Considering that this is still January, Android 13 has a good few months to eclipse Android 12's figures from August 2022 thanks to more devices being launched that run the latest Android OS version out of the box and the faster rollout of OS updates by brands such as Samsung, OnePlus, and Sony.
