Amazon has just unveiled an all-new Kindle which brings a host of improvements to make the e-book reading experience in the affordable segment so much better. As with Kindle e-readers, the device is purely focused on reading so you won't be distracted by social media apps or other attention-seeking apps installed on your smartphone. The all-new Kindle benefits from a sharper display, twice the storage as its predecessor, and a lighter chassis with pricing starting from $99.

The all-new Kindle still sports a 6-inch display but it now has a higher density of 300ppi, which is three times the pixels as its predecessor. According to Amazon, this allows it to show “laser-quality text and sharp images that read like paper.” The glare-free display also boasts a dark mode and an adjustable light that caters to most environments.

Amazon is also moving with the times when it comes to storage with the new Kindle having 16GB which should be enough for thousands of books, and there is even a switch to USB-C charging which means you can finally remove that MicroUSB cable from your charger. There's support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands, and you can connect your earbuds or speakers via Bluetooth in order to listen to audiobooks on Audible.

“With a high-resolution display that delivers three-times more pixels than our previous base Kindle, USB-C charging, 16GB of storage, and built-in adjustable front light, the new ultralight Kindle is the latest example of how we continue to bring premium features to our most affordable devices for even more customers to enjoy,” said Kevin Keith, vice president of Amazon Devices and Services.“

As mentioned, the all-new Kindle is lighter than its predecessor and pretty much every model before it thanks to its construction from 90% recycled magnesium, allowing it to weigh in at just 158g. The new Kindle is available to preorder in Black and Denim Blue colorways and is priced at $99 for the Lockscreen Ad-Supported variant and $119 for the ad-free version, with order shipping from October 12th. As you might have guessed, Amazon has a range of form-fitting covers available in other colorways which are sold separately.

But that's not all. Amazon also launched the Kids version of the all-new Kindle (2022) which comes with a year's subscription to Amazon Kids, a cover with magnets and a durable exterior, as well as a 2-year worry-free guarantee which will replace the device for free if the worst happens. The all-new Kindle Kids (2022) is available to preorder for $119, with orders shipping on October 12th.
