[Updated Oct 21] Samsung’s rugged Galaxy XCover 6 Pro is finally on sale in the US

After yesterday's comprehensive leak (thanks @evleaks), Samsung officially launched the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, a rugged smartphone built for challenging work environments that packs in a 6.6-inch 120Hz display, MIL-STD-810H durability, and a 4,500mAh removable battery. Samsung is also committing to four One UI/Android OS upgrades as well as five years of security patches.

Updated October 21: Having been officially unveiled in July, the rugged Galaxy XCover 6 Pro is finally on sale in the US for $599 and is briefly exclusive to Verizon before making its way to Samsung's online store, Amazon, and other retailers later this month.

Verizon is offering the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro for just $16.99 monthly for a 3-year period at 0% APR if you don't want to pay the $599 upfront in a lump sum.

Updated July 1st: Samsung has confirmed how much the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro will cost (at least in Spain) with the consumer version priced at €509 (~$) and €609 (~$) for the Enterprise Edition. While the rugged handset will only be available in a single RAM/Storage configuration, there will be single- and dual-SIM variants. Availability of the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro is still the same as before with European, Asian, and Middle Eastern markets getting first dibs before being “expanded to other regions” later on.

Powered by what is thought to be the Snapdragon 778 processor, the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The 6.6-inch LCD display offers FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and is protected by Corning's Victus Plus.

The 4,500mAh battery is removable and thus, replaceable, with charging achieved via the USB-C port or the POGO pins on the phone. There's a duo of rear cameras consisting of a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, with a 13MP selfie camera housed in the punch-hole on the center of the display.

The display sports Touch Sensitivity options that can increase the panel's receptiveness to touch in wet environments. Despite the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro being able to endure severe weather, drops, and other hazards that occur when working, the phone still comes in at under 10mm thick and is actually quite sleek in terms of design.

For business purposes, there are two customizable buttons that can be programmed to perform specific functions, with the phone able to act as an ‘enterprise-grade barcode scanner through Knox Capture' or even as a walkie-talkie thanks to its push-to-talk feature which now offers a louder speaker.

Samsung hasn't revealed the price of the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro just yet but considering that its predecessor cost $499, it should be in the $5-600 range.
