Galaxy S22

As the Unpacked event on February 8th looms ever closer, you may be wondering whether your region's variant of the Galaxy S22 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor or Samsung's own Exynos 2200 chipset with its new-fangled Xclipse 920 GPU that features AMD RDNA2-based graphics. It's being reported that besides being available in the US, the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S22 will be available almost everywhere apart from Europe where the Exynos-powered version will have a monopoly.

According to Dohyun Kim on Twitter, the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S22 will be the most common on sale but for once, the version that has the Exynos chipset under the hood could be the one that holds the most interest thanks to the Xclipse 920 GPU that harnesses AMD's RDNA2 graphics technology. In leaked benchmarks, the new GPU on the Exynos is proving to be more than a match for Qualcomm's Adreno GPU on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, although we'll see if that's the case in real-world usage.

  • Europe: Exynos
  • North America: Snapdragon
  • South America: Snapdragon
  • East Asia: Snapdragon
  • South East Asia/Oceania: Snapdragon
  • West Asia: Exynos & Snapdragon
  • Middle East Asia: Exynos & Snapdragon
  • Africa: Exynos & Snapdragon

As with every new Galaxy S flagship series, it's going to be interesting to see if the divide between the Snapdragon and Exynos processors has narrowed. Will Samsung's new Exynos 2200 match or even outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 this time around? What are your thoughts on this?

    1. @Smoked Tuna, don’t you think the MSRP for the base model 6A is going to gravitate around the same price point?
