
When it comes to smartphones made with an emphasis on being environmentally friendly and easy to repair, your options a fairly slim with the Fairphone brand being a the most recognizable manufacturer. The brand's latest phone is the Fairphone 4 5G, and thanks to one of the usual suspects, we have images and specs for the handset ahead of its launch which could be as soon as September 30th.
Details of the Fairphone 4 5G come via WinFuture and reveals that the phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 750G processor with 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of expandable storage. The 6.3-inch IPS display has FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080), 410ppi, and is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5.
There's a 48MP main rear camera and another 48MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens, with a selfie camera housed in the teardrop notch on the display. The fingerprint sensor has been relocated to the power button on the side of the phone which will launch running Android 11. Elsewhere you'll find NFC and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity along with dual SIM functionality in the form of a nano-SIM and an eSIM.
Unlike most other modern smartphones, the Fairphone 4 5G sports a removable 3,900mAh battery. It's IP54 certified against dust and water splashing, which is better than nothing.
According to WinFuture, if you buy the Fairphone 4 5G before the end of 2022 and then register it on the company's website within 3-months, you'll receive a 5-year guarantee for the device. While there's no word on pricing and availability, it's believed that the Fairphone 4 5G will be priced around the €600 (~$695) mark.
