
If you are the owner of one of an eligible Fire Tablet you'll be pleased to learn that Amazon adding a great new feature to your device that will let you control your smart home devices by tapping on the tablets' display. The Smart Home Device Dashboard, as it is called, has begun rolling out to eligible devices today.
Tapping the Smart Home button on the left-hand side of the navigation bar will activate the new feature, which you can access from the lock screen and any other screen on the tablet. These are the four devices set to be updated with the Smart Home Device Dashboard:
- Fire 7 (2019
- Fire HD 8 (2018 & 2020)
- Fire HD 10 (2019)
As you might expect, the Smart Home Device Dashboard will let you control all your Alexa-powered devices, such as smart lights, cameras, thermostats, switches, and plugs. Considering that both Google and Apple have had similar Home apps on their devices for a number of years, the rolling out of the Smart Home Device Dashboard to these four Fire tablets is Amazon attempting to reach parity with its rivals.
