Flash Player goes away at the end of this year, and it’s taking FarmVille with it

FarmVille

FarmVille was one of the first big Facebook games that really solidified social media's place in the gaming industry, and it left a huge impact on the market whether you were into it or not. Even if you weren't playing it, I can guarantee you probably saw at least a few of those FarmVille requests from your friends and family over the years.

But FarmVille is a Flash game, and Flash Player is slated to make its overdue exit from the internet at the end of the year. So, yes, that means that FarmVille is getting dragged down with it.

RIP FarmVille

FarmVille has posted a blog detailing the end of its massively successful time waster. After 11 years the game will stop working once Adobe pulls the plug on Flash Player, giving you up until December 31st to play for the last time.

In-app purchases will be available until November 17th, after which the payment system will be turned off. I strongly recommend to not spend any more real money on a game that's going to disappear in less than 90 days, but hey, whatever floats your boat. You will have to use your credits before the game turns off, though; no refunds on that.

There's not much more to discuss with a game this old being taken off life support, but Zynga does mention that they have a few other newer FarmVille titles if you need to scratch that itch. If it were me, though, I might go check out Google Play Pass and maybe play Stardew Valley or something.
