With COVID-19 still on the rise in many parts of the world, people everywhere are looking for new ways to adequately disinfect common surfaces. Smart devices have always been tricky to clean, as you can’t just dip them in hot water and give them a scrub, nor can you spray just any disinfectant solution on a touchscreen without the risk of damaging it. Samsung has identified this issue, and officially released what they’re calling the ITFIT UV Sterilizer earlier this week.
ITFIT UV Sterilizer
Samsung claims the ITFIT UV Sterilizer will kill up to 99% of germs and harmful bacteria, making it a great unit not only for disinfecting your phone, but other small items as well. Your mask, keys, sunglasses—really anything that will fit inside the UV sterilizing unit.
The other thing that makes Samsung’s ITFIT UV Sterilizer special is that it will also wirelessly charge your device while it’s inside the unit. When you arrive home from work or grocery shopping, you can just place your phone into the ITFIT UV Sterilizer and set it to work. Your phone will continue to charge even when the device is done disinfecting.
Price and How to Buy
There is a slight catch with the ITFIT UV Sterilizer, and that is that it’s currently only available in Thailand. Samsung has yet to say if and when this device will be released in other regions, but for now, it can only be purchased there. It’s being sold for about $50 USD, which is actually a pretty fair price when compared to other UV phone sterilizers on the market.
All in all, the ITFIT UV Sterilizer from Samsung seems like a good product, but the downside is, of course, its limited availability. Thankfully though, this isn’t the first of its kind. While it may be a first for Samsung, there are similar options at comparative prices out there for people in other countries.
