NVIDIA GeForce Now is NVIDIA's pretty fully-featured game streaming competitor to Google Stadia. It's been in beta for a very long time, and launched to a ton of positive media reception.
But that launch high didn't last long, as tons of games and publishers pulled from the service and have taken the wind out of NVIDIA's sails. Now they're trying to build some of that back.
GeForce Now on Android TV
The latest news for NVIDIA's game streaming service sees it come to more Android TV models. Currently it only works on NVIDIA's own Android TV streaming boxes and sticks, plus Android phones. While the phone support is great, that means it's hard to stream GeForce Now to a TV, which is where most people are playing, I'd assume.
The latest version of the app mentions that it's been optimized for an LG set-top box in South Korea, which would be the first Android TV device besides NVIDIA's own hardware that would work with GeForce Now. That changelog sounds like NVIDIA is ready to roll out a much broader launch of the service to play whatever games are left in NVIDIA's catalog.
The current plan from NVIDIA is to keep developing the full Android TV experience and bring it to select models. That means it won't officially be available for any and every Android TV you can buy, so I wouldn't expect GeForce Now to be available on stuff like entry-level 32-inch cheap TVs or something like the extremely affordable Mi Box S. But keep an eye out for more news here in the next few months, maybe we'll be surprised.
