Smartwatches have had reminders to stay healthy for years – stand up every so often, take a deep breath, etc. In a sign of the times, Tizen joins Google's Wear OS to remind you to wash your hands every couple of hours. When you reach the sink, it'll also start a 25-second timer to ensure that your hygienic efforts aren't in vain. The World Health Organization (WHO) advises washing your hands for at least 20 seconds.

If you own a recent Tizen-powered smartwatch like the Galaxy Watch Active 2, the new “Hand Wash” app also has an integrated watch face that shows how long it's been since your last trip to the sink. If you miss a scheduled rendezvous with the soap dispenser, you'll be alerted. A software team with Samsung's Research Institute in Bangalore developed the app in just two weeks.
As mentioned earlier, Google also added hand washing reminders to Wear OS, but with a much stricter rule to scrub for a full 40 seconds. The horror! Stay safe my friends.
