As the launch of OnePlus' inevitable new generation of smartphones draws nearer multiple leakers suggest that launch may be a mere month away.
OnePlus' penchant for launching near to top-tier smartphones at less unreasonable prices than their Samsung and similar premium brand competition has earned the company much admiration in the six years since their debut OnePlus One, albeit with ever-rising prices.
The launch of their next generation OnePlus 8-series draws nearer, and OnePlus has already teased certain features including a 1440p 120hz AMOLED display, and 5G, however the launch date of the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8 Lite has not yet been officially divulged.
Fortunately, as is often the case in this industry, some sources in-the-know have all advised of this launch date; beginning with an anonymous source speaking to the folks over at TechRadar, and then having been recently reconfirmed by leaker @MaxJmb, OnePlus will supposedly launch their phones on April 15th, in a month:
This supposed launch date will apparently feature only the standard OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, however, as OnePlus themselves have already confirmed some supply chain delays as a result of the coronavirus covid-19.
As a reminder, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are both expected to feature Qualcomm's latest and greatest Snapdragon 865 and 120hz AMOLED displays – FHD+ on the standard model and QHD+ on the Pro variant – while the OnePlus 8 Lite has been advised to instead sport Mediatek's powerful Dimensity 1000 chipset which sports similar specs to the Snapdragon 865.
Presumably that Dimensity 1000 chipset in the OnePlus 8 Lite is the source of the delays as Qualcomm has the greater buying power in the silicon business.
We shan't need to wait long to begin seeing evidence of this nearing launch date if it is as soon as April 15th, as OnePlus tends to begin hyping up their next family of smartphones at least a few weeks before their official unveiling, so stay tuned!
