Get an early look at the Huawei P40 Pro and its new design 4

Huawei has already confirmed the existence of the P40 and P40 Pro, although I don't think anyone seriously expected those phones to not be made, with or without Google apps. But so far, that's all Huawei has said.

We're still rolling on leaks and rumors ahead of its March 2020 unveiling, but some new renders showcase the design of the phone, including its camera module.

The renders look slick, but it also shows a convergence of designs in the smartphone industry. Everyone seems to be moving towards a blocky, square/rectangle shaped camera module, and Huawei's no exception. The regular P40 will supposedly use 4 sensors, while the Pro is still undetermined, but will likely house 5.

The smaller P40 will clock in with a 6.1 to 6.2-inch screen, while the Pro jumps up to a 6.7-inch display that curves on all edges. It also has a metal frame around the corners that seem to overlap the display, but keep in mind these are just early renders and not necessarily something from Huawei directly.

There's no headphone jack on either model, but they both have a USB-C port, SIM tray, and speakers along the bottom. Volume and power buttons sit on the right side, and there's no indication of a pop-up selfie camera or hole-punch in the display, so we're not sure where the front camera is going. Huawei will likely be using an in-display fingerprint scanner, however.

The phone is still a couple months away, but we're excited to see what Huawei brings to the table. Samsung's Galaxy S11 is shaping up to be a beast, and Huawei can pretty typically match whatever Samsung has cooked up, so 2020 should be exciting for flagship phones.
