FCC votes to approve the Sprint T-Mobile merger, clearing one more obstacle 3

The Sprint and T-Mobile merger has had plenty of road blocks, but it's been on a steadily moving trend towards approval these last few months. Now the FCC has approved the merger, which is probably the last major hurdle to clear before it can go through.

There are still some things to hammer out, but the DOJ and FCC are the only two federal agencies that have to green light the deal. However, multiple states have filed lawsuits to stop the merger from happening, and T-Mobile-Sprint will have to fight that out to make it happen.

They've already successfully flipped Mississippi to the pro-merger side by promising a massive 5G rollout over the next few years, even though completely deploying 5G in one of the most rural states in the country seems like a very tall order.

There's still a few months of legal fights before we'll know for sure if this is happening, but it's looking more likely than not.
