Google Stadia might not be totally wireless at launch 3

A very big selling point of Google Stadia has been its quick and easy wireless connection options. But it looks like Google may have been a little sneaky about some hardware requirements according to the fine print of the service and a confirmation over on Reddit.

When Stadia was revealed, it kind of seemed like you'd be able to wirelessly play all your games. Connect your controller to a tablet, phone, Chromecast, or whatever, and stream away.

That's still partially correct, but it looks like the controller will only wireless connect to a Chromecast Ultra. You're going to need to wire it in to your phone or tablet. That's a bit of an extra headache, because it also means you'll need to carry around a proper cable to plug everything up, even on the go. That's much less convenient.

Google's support team has confirmed this on Reddit, too, but they didn't clarify if that was a limitation that would change down the line. The rest of Reddit (and some support documentation) makes it seem like the wireless capabilities should be coming down the line, but be careful about buying in if that was a big selling point to you.
