Remember Energizer's enormous Power Max P18K phone that was on display at MWC this year? The phone packed in an 18000mAh battery in an extremely thick design that theoretically should've gotten even the heaviest users through multiple days without needing a recharge.
Sounds cool on paper (or does it?) but it turns out nobody really wanted this thing. Energizer's Indiegogo campaign for the device failed, hard.
Originally set up with a goal of $1.2 million, you could lock in your own Energizer Max Power 9000 or whatever for just $549 and with an October 2019 release window. That's not bad, I guess, but it's still a pretty hefty asking price from a company that's known for AA batteries, not smartphones.
And that's how most people felt, since the campaign ended with just $15,000 in pledges. Remember, that original goal was for $1.2 million. They missed the mark by 99%.
Cool idea? Yeah, sure. Everyone wants a longer battery. Just, uh, not like that.
Grab a giant portable battery instead and call it a day.
