Lenovo is looking to continue last year's underwhelming new Motorola One (P30) mobile line, and the first has just been leaked in all its… glory?
Motorola has been a known medium in the mid-range since they launched their successful line of ‘Moto G' phones back in 2013 when they still worked under Google, and featured modest specs with stock Android at low prices.
Unfortunately that particular line of phones has mostly gone down from there, especially since Motorola was acquired by Lenovo and merged to become ‘Lenovo Moto', from which point their G-line has overpriced and under-delivered.
In the pursuit of this mid-range market, however, Lenovo Moto decided to launch a new brand of phones running Google's Android One initiative imaginitively labelled ‘Motorola One' last year, with the ‘codenames' of P30, P30 Play and P30 Power, just to confuse things.
These phones were similarly overpriced, underpowered, and a bit wonky-looking and yet apparently found some level of sales success as we are now seeing evidence of their successors with leaks of a new 2019 Motorola One P40 Play.

The leaks depict a frankly ugly phone with a pimple notch and big bezels and chin, as well as a wonko split rear camera duo, all enclosed in a cheap, thick plastic chassis still using a microUSB port, in 2019. The device measures in overall at 147.7 x 71.5 x 9.2mm with a 0.2mm camera bump and probably weighs around 160g.
The renders also reveal an increased 5.9inch (from 5.6inch), probably 720p IPS display, and apparently dual 13MP rear camera setup all powered by an unexciting 3000mAh battery.
I've really just gotta express just how utterly poor of a value proposition this phone poses at its expected $200-250 asking price, hell it'd be poor value at even half that price given competition like the excellent Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
Anyway, we should see an official announcement of this device and its bigger brethren soon, if anyone actually cares.
