Android TV has been been doing extremely well for Google, but if you looked at the current landscape of Android TV boxes, you'd never guess it. The NVIDIA Shield is an easy favorite, and Xiaomi offers their own Mi Box S as a cheaper alternative that's still capable of 4k playback. That's pretty much it, with just a few other obscure options and TVs that have Android TV as their default smart OS.
So where's Google's growth coming from?
Android TV is struggling as a consumer option, especially next to things like the Apple TV and Fire Sticks, but as a platform for partner operators? Google's seeing a ton of interest there. They've added 130 partners since 2016, and growth keeps getting better and better, with Android TV devices doubling every year.
This means that while you aren't as likely to buy a standalone streaming box or stick that runs Android TV, it's getting much more likely that a box from a pay TV operator is significantly more likely to use Android TV to deliver its content. This is a big plus for Google as Android TV integrates a lot of big Android features (like Google Assistant and Google Search) into someone's home, and makes customers more likely to stick with other Google products and potentially Android phones.
Android TV may not have been able to compete with other streaming devices, but it's certainly not dying. Google's making it work.

Pretty much it and obscure options?…. what sales data are you utilizing? You have the xiaomi tv listed before Sony? Xiaomi tv in the states is primarily sold at Walmart and is a one off and unknown device that the public doesn’t trust as a known brand or device that sits on a shelf next to Roku and fire sticks which the later, the public knows as a reliable device with a large gray market.
In the tv market, their is Sony, which one of the top tv manufacturers and has been using android tv as their os for a few years now and has been updated pretty regularly. In fact most bestbuy and review sites recommend the Sony televisions for variety of reasons.
