Sony’s Xperia XZ4 crushes benchmarks, beating other Snapdragon 855 phones

Sony's Xperia XZ4 has leaked in an AnTuTu benchmark, and despite rocking the same Snapdragon 855 chip that we're expecting in other phones, it's somehow scoring higher than other devices. We're not talking about scoring within the margin of error, either; Sony's crushing it by 10%.

Typically, the Snapdragon 855 will score around 360,000 in an AnTuTu benchmark. That's pretty great, and it's fitting for one of the most advanced mobile CPUs available to smartphones. But Sony's Xperia XZ4 clocked in at 395,721, which is right at 10% better. Maybe this is just a test device with an unstable overclock that won't make it into the production models, maybe Sony's cheating at benchmarks to stir up some early press, or maybe there's really just some insane optimization that's going to pay dividends with the XZ4's performance.

However you slice it, we're expecting to see the XZ4 unveiled very soon, so Sony will have to reveal what they've been working up. CES 2019 is in a few days, so maybe that's when the curtain will get pulled back.

Before this benchmark we'd heard that Xperia XZ4 will feature a 21:9 aspect ratio with no notch in the display, a triple camera layout, and a potential in-display fingerprint scanner.
