OnePlus has released their latest open beta build for the OnePlus 6, and it's bringing two major new features with it. The beta includes Video Enhancer for better video viewing, and OnePlus Roaming, which is a built-in data roaming service. There are some other smaller tweaks, too, as usual.
Here's the official changelog from OnePlus:
- System
- Added Video Enhancer feature
- Added OnePlus Roaming
- Communication
- Added vibration when hanging up
- UI Improvements for emergency rescue
- Now able to assign a specific SIM for a specific contact or group of contacts when using dual SIM
- Launcher
- Added User Agreement and Privacy Policy
- App drawer options under launcher settings
- General bug fixes and performance improvements
So what exactly do those new features do? Well, the Video Enhancer is designed to improve the colors of the display while you're watching videos, which to me sounds like it'll offer a saturation boost to make colors pop a little more. Some users may not enjoy that if they prefer more natural colors, but hey, at least it's an option to toggle on and off.
OnePlus Roaming is the company's self-named data roaming service, and it's actually a pretty cool feature. If you're visiting somewhere and need a data connection you can turn on OnePlus Roaming to start up service without a SIM card. It'll only work for data, so you won't be able to make traditional phone calls or send SMS messages, although tons of data messaging apps handle that for you, anyway.
If you're already on the beta you'll see this update hit OTA very soon. If you want to get started and join in, follow the instructions at OnePlus's forum link below.
