YouTube TV finally getting voice remote feature 4

Google has been updating a lot of their apps and services recently, but one that has not received much attention is YouTube TV. However, users of the service may notice a new pop-up message the next time they launch the app on their smartphone letting them know that a new “voice remote” feature is available. To access the new feature it appears a user has to have their account selected by Google, although it may just be rolling out slowly to all users eventually.

Building on Google's continued work on voice recognition and AI technologies, YouTube TV gets a dash of that magic sauce to help make things a little bit easier for TV watchers. Unlike their Home devices, the voice remote feature is triggered by a tap on a floating action button, which seems a bit of an odd choice in a world increasingly populated by devices just waiting for their trigger words. Once in action, users can do things typical to a remote control like switching back to a previous channel or tuning directly to a channel or network. Users can also do things like control the volume. Perhaps the most advanced capability is the ability to skip around in a recorded program.
