
Razer has just begun rolling out a new firmware update for its gaming-focussed Razer Phone that includes basics such as the January Security Patch, bug fixes, camera improvements as well as enabling HDR for Netflix. Join us after the break for the changelog on this new update.
The update comes in at 249MB and will roll out incrementally to unlocked handsets, with carrier-sourced units getting the new firmware in the coming weeks. The announcement comes directly from Razer's CEO, Min-Liang Tan, who posted the changelog on his Instagram account which consists of the following:
Netflix Enhancements
- Netflix now included with Razer Phone
- Enabled HDR content playback support
- Enabled Dolby 5.1 audio playback support
Camera improvements
- Fixed an issue where some images would appear yellow
- Tuning and image quality improvement
- Crushed bug and performance improvements
Security fixes
- January 2018 Android Security Patch
- Fix for Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability
Miscellaneous
- Updated theme icons to a dark style
- Various other bug fixes
As you can see, the new firmware boasts an impressive list of enhancements, fixes, and features. If you haven't received the update notification yet, you can head to Settings/ About Phone to mash the System Update button to see if it's available. You'll probably want to head to the Google Play Store to update the Razer Phone's Camera app as well. Razer Phone owners can look forward to receiving the Oreo update in the next couple of months.
