With the OnePlus 3T arriving to take the OnePlus 3's place, it's brought on some cause for concern as far as updates go. It's normal for updates to roll out slower or come to a complete halt when a company begins putting all of its efforts and focus on another product. But, that's not going to be the case with the OnePlus 3.

Android Authority was able to receive confirmation from OnePlus that the OnePlus 3 will be getting just as many updates as the OnePlus 3T. That said, you can expect the OnePlus 3 to get updates until the end of the OnePlus 3T's update cycle. With the OnePlus 3T launching six months after the OnePlus 3, this gives that older device at least another six months added to its own update cycle.
On the other hand, we're not exactly sure when the end-of-life date is for the two devices, so that could end up being a bit of a surprise.
The good news is that both handsets will be receiving Android 7.0 Nougat fairly soon here. OnePlus says it'll arrive for both devices before 2017 gets here, so be sure to keep an eye out for that!
